https://erica_jacobs.typepad.com > Venice in November!

Mark was giving the Keynote address at a conference in Venice, and I decided to go at the last minute. I had visions of wet feet and grey days, but it was a glorious five days, and I loved the architecture, the food, and the company. Click on the photo to enlarge.

It was unexpectedly sunny and I went off on my own. I couldn't stop taking pictures! It was one of the best days I've ever had--

Alla Madonna During Dinner

Alla Madonna During Dinner

This bustling trattoria is my favorite spot in Venice, partly because we came here with Lauren and Joan ten years ago, and partly because it hasn't changed at all in that time! The seafood is still wonderful, the wine unexpectedly excellent, the service attentive, and the crowd mostly locals. We also love the art work on the walls. The cost is reasonable, as well.

The tocai wine was so fabulous that I think we drank all three bottles. My memory is a bit fuzzy on that score.

Marisa is a small restaurant where gondoliers and bricklayers eat. The two times we ate there, we were the only tourists. They speak no English, and take no credit cards. The food is great!
